Design Notes

A Hanging Lantern Form with Rustic Presence

The compact bell-shaped shade hangs from a short metal chain beneath an extended wooden bracket, creating the character of a traditional lantern in a space-saving wall-mounted design. Its layered silhouette adds depth and visual warmth without overwhelming the room.

Light filters through the open rattan weave, casting soft patterns across nearby walls. The fixture works beautifully beside a bed, along a hallway, above a reading corner, or as an inviting accent in cafés and intimate dining spaces.

Material & Form

Natural Rattan Woven Around a Wood Structure

Each shade is shaped and woven by hand from natural rattan, preserving the irregular lines, tonal variations, and tactile character of the original material. The layered weave creates an organic surface that feels warm, expressive, and distinctly handcrafted.

A textured wood backplate and projecting wooden arm provide sturdy support, while the dark metal chain introduces a subtle industrial contrast. Together, these honest materials create a durable wall light suited to Japanese, Wabi-Sabi, rustic, and relaxed contemporary interiors.
